Art Deco is one of the most commonly identified styles out there. Pieces are still being made/replicated today! I personally love the look that style. To design your room to look like it came from that time period, you have a few options. Traditionally, this period displayed alot of natural woods, wood veneers, etc. Styles like “waterfall furniture” are iconic to this time period. They have the perfect blend of horizontal lines with the sleek fluid look. You can take another angle to this style. Look for very modern lines. Painted furniture in contrasting colors will fit in just great. The furniture becomes the centerpiece in this room, while in the other room, you tend to see more earth centered tones, etc. Find bold lamps, chair with sleek lines to help compliment your room. There are alot of great looking modern pieces that you can find at Ikea. Be careful not to go to modern that you transition into the atomic era. Regardless, oriental furniture will work great. Make sure that it is not too ornate. You can always take a cue from your exsisting furniture for colors. I recommend whites, blacks, vivid reds for a modern Art Deco room. Try natural colors like muted greens or soft blues for a natural room. I am no expert in this, but I enjoy reading a design book or two! Make yourself happy!
